This class has so many layers of goodness, it really will be like having a favorite blanket wrapped around your shoulders.
We will begin by making monoprints which is so fun. The beauty of a monoprint is it will have natural imperfections and little surprises making it unique and special. Then you will choose the monoprint that really speaks to you most and from there you start the process of creating this gorgeous rendering of a spirit blanket.

If you want to bring an image for inspiration, please do, but Carlene will have loads of images of quilts and blankets to choose from. You will be encouraged to add pattern elements that have specific meaning, significance or personal heritage, whether it is from Native American motifs or Welsh tapestry weavings or geometric shapes from a quilt you have always loved, etc. etc.—your life, your blanket.
Colors will be added to the monoprint using watercolor paints. And then, the best part and Carlene’s magic touch: you will add in bits of fabric and embroidery for texture. The end result will truly be an image to put on display that nurtures your spirit each time you look at it.
