Carlene Williams

Carlene Williams’ interest in art began as a child. She was inspired by her mother, grandmother and aunts – talented makers who made everything from clothing to dolls and quilts. The hours she spent pouring over children’s picture books when she was young led her to a BFA in Illustration.

After college, she spent a year and a half trying to make it in NYC but ultimately left to help others find the magic that she felt while creating. For the past 22 years, Carlene has been working in the therapeutic arts with seniors and running an art gallery at a retirement community in Kansas. In this setting she sees the benefits of gathering and making together.

Although her education is in drawing and painting, she has a passion for all art media and crafts. The last several years, she has been combining painting and printmaking with fiber art. She finds inspiration with fellow makers of all kinds and from her love of traveling.
