Monday, September 14
(FULL / CLOSED)

Experience level: advanced beginner

This class will focus on slowing down and using simple hand-stitching techniques to create a simple and beautiful mini drawstring bag. Entirely hand stitched, this mini quilted round bottom pouch is the perfect canvas to showcase favorite fabric patches and stitches.

The bags not only hold treasures, but are treasures in themselves. The layer of cotton batting and quilt stitches adds a lovely, textured surface and lends more structure to the bag. It is perfect for carrying around a few favorite stitching supplies, or as a small handbag for essentials. It is also completely reversible. I love going through my remnants and picking out fabrics to make these treasured totes.

You will learn hand-sewing skills that can be applied to any other sewing project and enjoy the kind of slowness and mindfulness that only hand-stitching can bring. Whether intended as a keeper of personal treasures, or a decorative object for display, this pouch will bring joy to your heart.

This class is titled Mini Squam Satchel, but you might want to call it What Women Carry . . .
