SP2018 I LOVE LACE :: HONEY PLUM

October 10, 2017

I Love Lace :: Honey Plum

Taught by:

Melody Hoffmann

Offered:

Thursday June 7th

Experience level: All Levels*

Are you looking for a gentle introduction to lace knitting? Or, perhaps you already have some experience with lace, but are curious for ways to grow and refine your technique? Either way– this is the perfect choice. In this class, Melody will guide you through lace construction using her lovely Honey Plum pattern as your base. Not only will you be diving into all the ins and outs of knitting lace, you will end up on the other side with a cosy wrap that is perfect for morning walks or sipping tea.

Melody will be addressing the anatomy of lace stitches as well as highlighting the benefits of learning to read chart and written instructions. As you cast on your miniature version of the shawl, you’ll warm up with some meditative garter stitch before delving into the delicate lace variations in this garment:

  • Shetland lace
  • Estonian braid

Have no worries that Melody will leave you before the finish line.  This class will wrap up with Melody teaching the perfect Picot bind off to decorate those edges. And, she will have you all set for when it’s time for you to block your shawl with a lace-blocking demonstration for when you’re successfully cast off.

Kit fee: 10 USD

Materials:

CLICK HERE for downloadable Materials PDF. The project for this class is a mini shawl, but do bring along the yarn + needles for the larger version so you can cast on right away! You can purchase Melody’s other lace shawl pattern Plume for an additional 6 USD.

Instagram post 2198074211822733699_228334504 happy Friday! ✨ we’re giddy over here at Team Squam HQ watching each of your registrations float into our inboxes 😍
.
.
A quick reminder before you settle into your weekend: pre-registration for FALL 2020 ends this Monday, Dec 16th— in case you’re wondering WHY you might consider pre-reg, here’s the nitty gritty 👉 if you pre-reg for the retreat, you have the opportunity to choose your top choices from ALL classes. In January, we’ll then open registration for any remaining spots in classes that may not have filled in pre-reg
.
.
SO, all that to say is IF you had your eye on a particular class (or two! or three!) for the FALL, do make a note of the pre-reg closing deadline on Dec 16th

All WE wanna do is snuggle and squish into this gorgeous blanket by @northknits — (you could learn to make this Triple Warmer Throw, using gorgeous @purlsoho yarn, next Fall! *hint hint* 😉) .

Wishing you a luscious weekend! #squamlove
