ITM2022 What She Stitched

What She Stitched

Taught by:

Ann Wood

Offered:

Friday + Saturday

Experience level: all levels welcome

This is a workshop all about process, experiment, play and the sweet, steady rhythm of hand-stitching.

Riffing off the week’s exploration into the fairy tale of Six Swans, we will be exploring ways of creating a visual story and playing with the number six. We will be weaving in and out of both abstract and narrative form through the act of stitching on six separate rectangles of cloth. These six rectangles can then be assembled into a myriad of different final pieces but we will cover that at the end of class.

To begin with, we are going to play with creating our own language and symbols. There may even be some forays into allegory and hand stamping. Expect mystery. Expect surprise. Expect to be delighted.

Kit fee: 15
