Box of Wonder

Taught by:

Ann Wood

Offered:

Thursday September 14th - CLOSED
Friday September 15th - CLOSED

Experience level: All Levels

In this class, we will be creating 3-dimensional compositions – dioramas – shadow box assemblages – small worlds of our own. We will explore the poetry and spirit of things. I’m bringing all sorts of things to play with and we’ll forage the magnificent fall Squam forest for natural elements too.

The morning will begin by exploring  and gathering materials and then experimenting – playing – arranging and re-arranging, observing the relationships that occur between objects and the mood and atmosphere that is created.

Our singular, unique and personal compositions will emerge from the ideas this play will spark – they can be entirely abstract or tell a story, they might reflect an inner landscape, an outer landscape or an intersection of ideas – intersections are always interesting places.

I’m bringing most of what you need:

  • Boxes
  • ephemera
  • a variety of objects (buttons, fabric and all sorts of surprises).
  • There will also be a variety of mixed media supplies – paint, brushes, glue etc. and some simple tools.

Please do bring: one item that interests you and one item to share.
Optional: If there are things you would particularly like to work with you are very welcome to bring them.

It was such a disappointment to cancel last year ( It was such a disappointment to cancel last year (amid all the rest of 2020) so it is no small delight that we WILL be welcoming @maralicoleknits to the lake in June where she will be sharing an original shawl pattern and teaching brioche! I love her sock pattern here and the message from her launch last July about "just keep putting one foot in front of the other." Indeed. #squam2021
