Episode 47 :: Mindy Tsonas

mindysquam

Hello and welcome back to our sweet conversations here, on the dock! Why did we drop off the map?  Well, for the past three weeks, we have been hosting our September gathering and then wrapping up the 2016 offerings so that we can begin focusing on the year ahead. And so, it is quite perfect that the person I am chatting with today is one of the pillars of the Squam community — someone we depend on for her extraordinary ability to remain calm and grounded while rolling out easy laughter when Mercury retrograde is sending plates, bowls and assorted cutlery crashing to the floor : MINDY TSONAS

Gentle, kind, fun, compassionate, generous—
honestly, I have about another hundred adjectives
to describe this woman who is the definition of friend,
community leader and all around good human being.

What I admire so much about Mindy (besides her super chill vibe as you will hear in our conversation above) is that she actively works to bring attention and reflection to her daily life. Her practice of mindful living is rooted in all the lessons, nurturance and personal growth of her 15-year marriage as well as all the joy, frustration, silliness, monotony, creativity, exhaustion and delight that goes into raising two beautiful boys.

mindy_alexmindysboysmindystudioShe creates the most warm and welcoming environments and offers deep, abiding love to anyone lucky enough to call her friend. It was a kick to chat with her this morning on the dock and I do hope you enjoy it, too.

P.S. During the month of September I set out to write a blog post to Mindy each day. Below was my stated intention.

*This month — 30 days — I am writing a letter to my dear friend Mindy because I happened on Mindy’s post where she honored me to my core — sharing that she reads my blog (my long, long neglected blog) and it inspired me to promise that for one full month — 30 days of September– I would write her a letter each, and every day. Let’s see how I do . . . 🙂

UPDATE? —> epic fail. 11 days of 30 . . . gah. Oh well — won’t stop me from trying again. 🙂
