Cathy Nichols is an artist, oracle deck creator, and color enthusiast who can talk about magenta for hours (and often does). Her paintings—bursts of florals, birds with secrets, and layered dreamscapes—are really love letters disguised as art.
Originally from Long Island, NY, Cathy now lives in Asheville, NC, where she balances her studio practice with raising two teenagers. With a master’s degree in literature and more than 25 years of stories told in paint, she’s discovered that her greatest joy comes in two forms: creating her own mixed media pieces and helping others fall head-over-heels for their own creativity.
Her philosophy is simple: art is storytelling. Every brushstroke can be a sentence, every color a feeling, every layer a chapter in the story only you can tell. Maybe that story is the memory of your grandmother’s garden, the comfort of a childhood home, or the way the ocean made you feel on a summer afternoon. Imperfection isn’t a flaw—it’s the plot twist that makes the story more alive. Cathy loves to teach other artists to lean into their unique brushstrokes and ways of looking at the world to create art that feels personal and fulfilling.
