Is it simple? Is it useful?

These are the questions I ask myself when making.

I strive for simplicity in design and aesthetic. Creating clean and graceful lines that bring out the natural beauty in the wood is my job as a maker.

It is also important for me to make objects for people to use. I love that there is no room for ambiguity in determining the usefulness of a spoon. It either works or it doesn’t.

Whatever piece of cherry or walnut I happen to be working with has a story that started long before my own and with a little help will be made into a beautiful object that will last for generations.
