ST2020 Stories & Stitches

Stories & Stitches

Taught by:

Gaye Glasspie

Offered:

Saturday, July 18th

Experience level: All Levels

Spend the afternoon knitting a sumptuous Purl Soho cowl with your guide, the goddess of living positively on purpose and marvelous storyteller, Gaye Glasspie, Squam 2020 Maker-In-Residence.

Last summer, Gaye was a panelist at our first Stitched Together event and she dazzled us all with her way of interweaving the power of story with lessons of life experience and then wrapping it all up with her irresistible joy of knitting.

In this workshop, the project focus will be a lovely two-color cowl that has a most delightful trick: it looks like brioche, but it’s not! This pattern is based in a Fisherman’s Rib but with the magic of a simple technique, you create a surprising effect that is the squishy, textural equivalent of a brioche stitch with half the work.

Our wonderful sponsors Purl Soho will offer each student the choice of two colors of their beautiful palette of Cotton Pure yarn to create your perfect masterpiece.

Gaye will walk you through this marvelous technique and be knitting right alongside of you as she answers questions and shares her thoughts and stories in her inimitable way. Come ready for fun and lively conversation!
