Description

One golden afternoon last September, seven women were gathered in the living room of a cozy cottage on Squam Lake called Brae Cove. As they each worked on projects in their lap, the group of knitters got into a lively discussion of what the perfect tunic might be. It would have simple construction so that it would knit up easily, but it would also have a bit of optional colorwork for those knitters who want more of a challenge. The design should be knit in the round, top-down, so that you could try it on as you went for best results. And, the style should be flattering on a range of body types.

Laughter rang out as the last detail got dialed in: it should t like a dream and make you feel like a million bucks! Talk about a fairy tale, right?

Well, the godmothers of this beautiful piece might have thought it would be easier to tame a dragon than to create such a garment, but lo and behold, magical SAM LAMB, — designer extraordinaire — made it all come true. We are thrilled to share the details of the Brae Cove Tunic with you.

  • It can be made in two different lengths and in two different fits, a highly unique feature that genuinely allows for a perfect fit.
  • It is graced with a boatneck collar which according to many is the most versatile, elegant and flattering neckline.
  • There is an option of adding a band of color work at the hem for fun and interest but you don’t have to decide until you get to the bottom.
  • Plus, the band only calls out for one color so it’s a terrific chance for beginners to dip their toes into color work.
  • Depending on what version you choose, the style of the tunic can range dramatically from draped elegance to a more nordic simplicity.
  • And, the tunic is a great layering piece but it is also a showstopper should you wear it on its own.

We aren’t one-shape-suits-all, so why should a pattern be?
You’re the knitter, and you should have options.
Simply remember two things:  Choose your fit, love your body.
