If you like to incorporate mixed media into your paintings, drawings or collage work, then embroidery can add yet another dimension!

We will learn eight basic embroidery stitches, and then play with a variety of non-traditional materials to explore just SOME of the infinite possibilities that await you. Plastic bags, twine, wire, plants and fabric are a few examples of string-like media that can be used for stitching... and you can stitch into anything from painted canvases to your screen door.

Cal will bring an assortment of supplies to experiment with, and you are encouraged to bring anything you can think of to try!

Kit Fee: $0

Materials List:

A few assorted tapestry/yarn needles (the bigger the better!)
Scraps or small skeins of yarn or string (for learning the stitches)
18 x 18" square (approximately; any size is fine) of burlap, linen, denim or other loosely woven fabric
One or two "unconventional" media to stitch with
Scissors
Optional: Disappearing marking pen, tailor's chalk or other marking tool
