Teacher Feature: Pixie Campbell
Pixie Campbell is a pioneer.
This is true for every possible definition of the word, most especially as one who is first, or among the earliest, in any field of inquiry, enterpise or progress.*
In 2008, Pixie was among the brave souls venturing to the white mountains of New Hampshire to gather for a who-knows-what event by the shores of squam lake. (She even came pregnant and toting a 2-year old, but more about that on Monday . .)
In the five years since that first September, Pixie has continued to expand from artist, to teacher, into her most recent work and creation: SouLodge which leads us down wild new pathways into undiscovered territories that help connect us with our own mystical spirits.
One of the things I adore about Pixie (in addition to the sound of her laugh and her wicked grin) is that she is one of those rare birds who actually walks the walk that she talks. As she says, "my mission with SouLodge is to spread seeds of love, growth, humor and health for traveling this awakened, healing path." And that is just what she does.
We are thrilled that she is hosting two SquamLodges during our June and September sessions and wanted you all to get to know a bit more about her so here's a little glimpse into that beautiful mind of hers.

Where were you born?
I was born in little Oklahoma-otherwise known as Bakersfield, CA.
Describe yourself in five words:
I am impatient, driven, creative, compassionate and forgiving.
Sounds you love:
Ocean waves breaking, my children chatting when they wake up, the wind in the trees, drumming-calms me.
Smells and seasonings that you love:
Cayenne pepper, cilantro, cinnamon, nettles, cardamom, black pepper, basil, rosemary.
What is your ideal vacation?
Anywhere in nature where I can unplug and connect with the elements with a quiet mind.
Do you have a favorite color?
Turquoise, blues of all kinds with a little bit of earthy orangey and red. Is wood grain considered a color? (ed. note: yes ma'am!)
What's a new skill that you would you like to learn?
How to throw pots!
Country mouse or City mouse?
Country mouse with occasional visits to where the people and resources are :)
What's a song you love?
Van Morrison's Brown-Eyed Girl.
Did you have a favorite candy as a kid?
Milk duds are still my favorite snack at the theater!
Motorcycle, bike, gondola or hot air ballon?
Gondola, though I can't say I've ridden in one. Maybe at Disneyland.
What was the best part of your day?
Kissing warm cheeks in the morning when the sun was warming the windows.

Thank you, Pixie! Can't wait to see you in a few weeks . . xoxoxo, e

I will be taking Pixie's class at Squam by the Sea. Looking forward to meeting her!
One of Pixie's original pieces, Fortitude, hangs by my door so that every time I leave home I'm reminded that I've got internal resources. Plus it's gorgeous. Can't wait to take Soul Lodge in the spring at Squam!

that Pixie is one of a kind!
There simply is no other. Pixie's wisdom comes from the well we all share, but can't always access. I am forever grateful for all that I've learned from her.
