Teacher Feature: Nikole Herriott

It's no wonder that Nikole Herriott named her first Squam class Everyday Pretty as this is a woman who brings new meaning to the words simple, lovely.

If you haven't been following her work be prepared to fall in love.  Here is a film that was released in June about her dad, Lance, with whom she created the magical shop:  Herriott Grace.  Their collaboration is designed for people who understand and value the beauty of handcrafted goods and lucky for us, it seems the world has an abundance of such aesthetically minded souls as Herriott Grace has been a wildfire word-of-mouth success since its launch and has continued to grow.

Although she first left home to study pastry making, Nikole has followed her heart through a number of explorations which has her currently living in Toronto and bringing her beautiful reflections and photographs to the world.

Visiting her blog is like stepping into a most wondrous landscape of color, light and exquisite composition.

In October, Nikole will be leading her class through open-air markets and making artisanal pastry with two local "nonnas" who will be sharing favorite family recipes.  But right now, let's get another glimpse of this lovely spirit.

Do you have a favorite season?

I think I probably like fall best, just at the start. Those days when the mornings are crisp but the afternoons still warm.

Best things to do at a carnival?

Get cotton candy!

What are the key items to have in the car on a road trip?

Sunglasses, iphone and a good old fashioned paper map.

Smells and tastes that make you think of summer?

That smell of rain on hot pavement, tomato vines and the country fair.

If you were an Olympic athlete, what would be your sport?

Show Jumping
