Teacher Feature: Melynda Bernardi

Several years ago I remember Stephanie sharing her newest love:  french press felted slippers and wow—I was hooked.  Ordered up a pair (knitters, don’t judge me for not simply ordering the pattern—I am going to learn to knit my very own in Melynda's class this Spring) and when they arrived, I would not be exaggerating to say I never took them off—they were the most perfect slipper ever born:  chic, simple, durable, comfortable.

I loved them right into the ground.

Of course I had to learn more about the woman who was clever enough to design them and lucky for me, she had a most lovely blog where she shared one fabulous design after the other all the while charming us with her life and family.

I mean, just look at this post for a perfect example.

She was going to knit a baby valentine hat in red and white, when it goes pink—she works it so that the results are even more darling than originally designed.  That’s Melynda Bernardi!

Where were you born?

Surrounded by lakes- in the beautiful state of Michigan (where I currently live... I'm a little biased).

What was your favorite dessert as a kid, and what is your favorite now?

As a child, my mom's peach cobbler fresh out of the oven (a la mode, of course).  When it comes to dessert these days, I'm not too picky- anything with chocolate or a large plate with a variety of cheese.

What is the best way to spend a Sunday morning?

Our Sunday mornings are spent with close friends and family at church and volunteering with high school students

Who is a hero in your life?

Can we go hero(s)?  My whole family- from them I have inherited work ethic, values, and learned what love is- I am truly blessed.

What are three of your most favorite scents?

Leaves burning, my daughter after bath time (any fresh baby scent will do),  wet wool- I once hated it, now there is a certain familiarity about it.

What song or Cd is currently getting a lot of play time at your house?

Anything by the Weepies or Regina Spektor are always getting play with me.

What is something you are really good at?

Ping Pong :-)

---------
Thank you, Melynda—I am assuming of course you mean, Ping Pong and KNITTING!  Because oh my—are you good.  And, happy (early) Birthday!

bisous, e
