teacher feature: Christine Chitnis

This September Christine Chitnis will be once again be teaching her class Pitch Perfect.  Both times she has offered this workshop it has sold out immediately and no wonder-- Christine has had remarkable success getting her stories and articles published and she shares all of her best practices in this class.

Sure, it's a little bit annoying that she is so young and successful, but I am nothing if not open-hearted and would never compare the fact that at her age I could hardly keep an address book organized and my face washed let alone grow a vibrant writing career all the while sharing beautiful photographs and stories at her popular blog, running a household oh, and raising two kids.

See?  Am so not bitter.

Must be due to her Michigan upraising, I am thinking.  They don't mess around in the Spartan state.

But honestly?  She kind of dazzles me with her ability to create such a beauty in her daily life (that's an image of her inspiration board up top) and since I am obviously biased as all get out-- I'll just let you get to know her for yourself.

Did you have a nickname as a kid?

Sissy- which is still my nickname. I love it because it reminds me of my family. The nickname came about because my younger brother couldn't pronounce Christine, and even 'sister' was too much...so I simply became 'Sissy.' And it stuck. Outside of my family, I think Elizabeth is the only one to use my nickname!

Smells and tastes that make you think of summer?

Basil, lilacs (more spring, but hint at the coming of summer) and sunscreen (the cheesy, fake coconut smell- love it!)

Best things to do at a carnival?

Bumper cars

What are the key items to have in the car on a road trip?

These days, with two little boys along for the ride: diapers, toy trucks, wipes, snacks, changing pad, multiple changes of clothes (you wouldn't believe how dirty little boys seem to get), board books, sippy cups, Elmo sing-a-long cd...

hmmm, that should do it.

Fun, fun! And all that just for a trip to the park!

I wouldn't even want to bore you with the endless list that is required for an overnight!

If you were an Olympic athlete, what would be your sport?

Tennis- in my dreams I was always a way better tennis player than in reality. *sigh*

Love learning more about you Christine! You are amazing and talented and beautiful and wow, I could go on. Think the only thing you left out of the necessities on a road trip was knitting....oh wait that might just be me.
Lovely that you are sharing your knowledge at Squam. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Hi Elizabeth!
