Takin' it to the streetsTaught by: Andrea Jenkins
Kit Fee: None
Join me as we take to the streets, cameras in hand, in search of the kind of stories only a city holds.
What I love about this workshop is that it is wholly experiential-- one part workshop, one part photo walk, one part treasure hunt. Just like plein-air painters who work fast and spontaneously to capture the mood and light, we will be learning how to anticipate moments and capture them before they are gone.
With Providence as our canvas, we will lose ourselves in back alleyways and side streets as, together, we treasure hunt for color, pattern and light amidst grand old architecture. For me, time spent wandering the streets means you'll never take the same photograph twice! There's always something new around the corner (and a different way to look at it).
There is an art to knowing what to look for (and how to frame it) when shooting on the streets and I am delighted to be able to share with you all that I have learned through years and years of experience of street shooting. This is a uniquely-guided experience where I will provide you with as much guidance and instruction as you would like. We are all at different levels and I will meet you where you are at.
It is an unforgettable thrill to capture a photograph that makes you feel exhilarated and proud. It's even better to know that when the weekend is over, you will have new skills to ensure you can do this again and again!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Camera (DSLR, polaroid, iPhone, whatever you love to shoot with, whatever you have)
- Comfortable shoes (please!) We will be walking for hours-- sneakers are highly recommended
- We will stop for tea/coffee but please have a water bottle with you to keep hydrated
