Susy Pilgrim Waters

Susy Pilgrim Waters has drawn since she could hold a pencil. An illustrator, designer and painter whose work is used extensively in print advertising, book and magazine publishing, and commercial licensing, Susy's signature style combines color, shapes, and wit, for vibrant evocative results.

Her clients include: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Crate and Barrel, Gourmet, Travel & Leisure, American Airlines, LA magazine, Simon & Schuster, Pizza Hut international, Chronicle books, TIAF CREF, TeNues, Roaring Book Press, and The New York City public library.

I love being an illustrator. Each project, brings a new challenge and chance to explore and use ever evolving materials. I just wish there were more hours in a day.

I have a range of styles and approaches to my work. Sometimes a client will be quite specific and cite pieces I have already done for a style/mood which will give me a direction, or other times it’s a collaboration. Ultimately it’s a full on creative process.

I have recently launched a new stationary line called graciefinn.com based entirely on my hand writing and love of words.

I love to paint, using mixed media, wood, fabric, printing (wood cut, silk screen).

I am a huge 'processor'. I like to keep a few sketch books going at the same time. These sketch books are like a library of reference, process and inspiration.

Originally from England, I live in Boston with my husband, Keith, dog Tillie, cats and 2 bunnies. We have 2 children.
