sublime moments
Yesterday morning was the most perfect Spring morning we've yet had here in the Outer Banks. The birds arrived in force over the weekend and the weather Sunday evening was mild enough to throw open the windows overnight for the first time...
I'm not sure whose song woke me...but it was pretty and I stayed in bed a bit just listening.
Then the sunshine called me outside for coffee...and little Eli was restless with wandering, as was the cat. So off we all went...

Into the woods, off leash, following the Yes! of our eyes and noses...
There was movement everywhere..birds in the bush, rustling creatures, osprey overhead...

During the week I tend to skirt the sound when walking in the morning with Eli. Soundwater play requires a bath...but this day there was no stopping him! So smart, and familiar with the trails he took off at full gallop right to the water...and so I followed. It was a YES! morning for sure...

As we played, I reflected on just how good this moment felt...what was different? The simple alignment of sun and earth as we head to Spring? Some energetic shift in the cosmos or my hormones?
Or could it be that it's always good and it just depends on whether or not you choose to feel it?

I finished Marie Manuchehri's book over the weekend, and I can not recommend it enough...I read the whole thing in just three sessions! I've done a fair amount of study in energy work and the chakra system...and while her book is more than accessible to someone new to these concepts, I still learned so much. The way she describes how she works and what she sees was the most fascinating account of energy medicine I have read....and I know her reminders, and some of the practices she taught that I tried while reading, helped me connect more fully to yesterday...and today.
Did you know that you "receive" through the heart chakra on your back, kind of between your shoulder blades? So as I walked yesterday, I focused my attention on that spot and let the heat of the sun pour in and warm me from the inside out. The first photo was what caught my attention as I practiced... and when I look at it now I get a little buzz in my heart. I'm not kidding!

So tell me, how do you best connect to the sublime in your life? Those moments of bliss and oneness? Are you with your friends, family, pets, outside in nature, moving your body? xo*m

Hey girlie :)
Sounds like a lovely weekend you had.
I'm totally picking up that book because for the
longest time I had pain & tension in the receiving spot
of my back. Was going through some internal struggles
but I'm feeling myself coming out of it. Thanks for the
recommendation!
Right now, my sublime moments = meditation with music, connection with friends, and lot's of long walks. xo
So funny or not that I just came here as I was experiencing pain in between my shoulder blades..hmmmm
I can actually feel the joy and almost feel the sun on my face looking at your pics.. that pup is too freaking cute..
I do connect through nature, when I allow myself the time and space to be in it .. and through my pup and her joy of life.
xoxo

Oh Michelle.....your words here soothe and remind me to be in the present. I love seeing sweet Eli seemingly skirting across the water.
I am most certainly feeling the shift here with Spring. Such goodness and promise wrapped up into one. I am LOVING the new website and offerings. bravo to the Squam team! love you dear friends.......xo
mindy
time to get that book for sure. I did not know that about receiving in your back there...
Sublime moments- finishing a workout, snuggling with my little boy in his bed at night or in the morning, closing my eyes as the sun streams in the window.
xoxo
Gorgeous, color-filled photos! Yes! The heart receiving through the upper back! A little addition to this wisdom... Think about this the next time you hug someone and their hands are rubbing your upper back! Love sandwich!
This was such an "ah-ha" statement for me:
"Or could it be that it's always good and it just depends on whether or not you choose to feel it?" What a fabulous way to maybe open our eyes to the good that is there every day. I love taking early morning weekend walks with my pup Crosby. He sniffs every blade of grass and it gives me time to just look around at the trees, listen to the birds and just breathe it all in :)
michelle, your words are feeling so comforting today. yes! to the idea of whether or not we choose to feel the goodness before us.
and your mention of receiving through our heart chakra on our backs...took my breath away. i have just come off a 10-day juice fast and, off and on throughout the fast, there was an achiness in that very area of my back. it was a definite area of focus for me, noting and allowing it to be...
connecting to sublime...outdoors - especially in the woods, playing with my kids, sitting with my breath in the early morning hours, with colored pencil in hand
Great photography! I can remember those times that I had a vacation and was able to watch sunrise and sunset with the beautiful beach that could take away my tress. I love the feeling of being close to nature. I also miss my life in taking pictures. I love and used to take pictures since I was a kid but its very rare to do those things this times because of busy work that I could not even have time for vacation or even treat myself to some place I love and used to go. Thank you for sharing these pictures of yours and Keep enjoying life.
