This 6-hour class will focus on telling a story through photos. What better place to do this than in Italy! We will combine food photography and styling, scenic shots at a local market, and photographing an artisan making pasta.

The day will begin with a brief introduction to photographing on location.  We will discuss camera settings, lighting, depth of field, camera angles, and getting to know a subject.  Then, we will take advantage of the wonderful local offerings by visiting a farmer’s market to gather fresh ingredients to photograph. While at the market, we will discuss shooting on location and setting a scene to help build a story.

We will then come back to the villa and learn techniques for styling food in a natural way, as well as how to work with natural light. Students will style and photograph ingredients from the market to add to the story.

To continue the story, we will photograph an artisan at work, making pasta. We will discuss techniques on how to photograph people, process, and how to capture motion.

All students must have basic photography skills, shoot with a DSLR or SLR and know how to operate their camera in the manual setting.
