Seeing the Everyday
Taught by: Amy GretchenKit Fee: $0
Our life is made up of moments; moments that make us laugh, moments that bring us to tears, moments we're proud of, moments we want to share, moments we never want to forget. By taking a photograph, we are preserving one of those moments and telling a story that would otherwise quickly fade or go unnoticed. What story do you want to tell? What details of your life do you want to remember?
As you begin to capture photos of your everyday, you will begin to see your beautiful life unfolding before you. By quietly observing and being present in the ordinary moments with your camera, you will begin to notice more of your life than you ever have before. You will find the beauty in the routine and the meaning in the mundane. Big events are fun to shoot and reflect upon, but the details that make up the everyday can be some of the most meaningful, and most important to capture.
In this class, we will discuss ways to see the details that make up the stories you want to tell and how to creatively capture those moments. We’ll do this by:
Material List:
Digital SLR camera (a point and shoot is acceptable if it can switch to AV, TV, or manual settings)
Favorite Lens(es)
Notebook & pen
Optional:
Shutter remote

In this class, we will discuss ways to see the details that make up the stories you want to tell and how to creatively capture those moments. We’ll do this by:
- Understanding how to see the light and its qualities.
- Becoming more familiar with your camera. Learn to get off automatic and shoot manually.
- Learning how manipulating aperture, shutter speed, and IOS work together to create the feeling you want to capture.
- Discussing tips and tricks so you can step out behind the lens and get in your own photos. (It’s your life – you need to be a part of it).
