Receiving from the Essence of Flowers

password: tincture

If you would like to start taking a flower essence right away, you can buy your own blends online or at a metaphysical or heath food store. But in case you want to make your own here again are the steps:

Purchase several dropper bottles for each flower essence you would like to create, including a small glass bottle for the mother tincture. The bottles can often found at health food stores or online. Find a flower you feel called to (you can also look up their healing properties online or in the Flower Essence Repertory book). Let the petals and bud of the flower (without the stems) soak in a glass bowl with water in full sunlight for three to four hours. Pour the water and a half amount of brandy or apple cider vinegar into a small glass bottle or jar. This is called the mother tincture. Add a few drops from the mother tincture and place in a small glass bottle with a third brandy or vinegar and two-thirds water. This is the stock bottle. Several drops are then added from the stock to the final bottle called the dosage bottle, which again has a small amount of brandy or vinegar filled with water. Create your own label with a little intention on each bottle.

A pen and ink drawing of the Iris flower essence. Iris helps to transcend any creative limitations into higher realms of expression.

Some Flower Essences for Creativity:

Buttercup: a self-esteem blend for artists. Helps artists to understand the value of their work.

Indian Paintbrush: helps to restore and replenish physical vitality so that it flows into creative inspiration.

Larch: removes any stifled feelings and helps instinctual creative expression to flow.

Yellow Star Tulip: inspires compassion and empathy in the artist. Allows an artist to tap into the real feelings of others and subsequently reflect that in his or her work.

You may want to take this quiz found here to find out which flower essence is best for you. Whichever ones have the most checks is the flower for you. Remember, flower essences are a vibrational form of plant medicine, they work on energetic levels, so the effects are subtle yet powerful in their own way. I happen to believe energy precedes matter and thoughts become things so flower essences can be used as a tool for gentle transformation. I choose for transformation to come with gentleness and ease, and as quickly as I choose it to be. Transformation does not have to be long and drawn out, but can occur in a twinkling, along with manifesting our dreams and deepest desires. After taking the quiz you may share which essence you are going to take if you would like.

You might be able to make flower essences right from the flowers in your backyard or neighborhood. Hydrangea in the left is helpful to combine all the parts in your life into a more whole experience and improves concentration. Echinacea on the right helps to restore the soul’s identity and relationship to the Earth and humanity.

If you are interested in having me make you a flower essence, please let me know and I may be able to do so at the end of the course. Blessings onto you and your daily gentle transformation.

Elena (o: I have so very much enjoyed learning more about flower essences, herbs and tea blends this week. I am on a little family break in Tasmania at the moment with my parents in law, but have looked forward to reading your class material each night and listening to your videoas. Today we went for a walk around Hobart and we went past a store called Goulds Naturopathica"" which I just loved as soon as I entered, but I got even more excited when I saw a wall of glass jars with organic herbs such as Ginko and Tulsi and many many more (o: I now have little bags of some to take home and enjoy in a bath and as a tea now as I draw and paint. This side to your class was such a welcome surprise which I've thoroughly enjoyed. I've studied Kinesiology and I've really enjoyed seeing a little of how you've encorporated your other studies into your art practice. Such a beautiful holistic approach. Liza xxx
