Episode 36 :: Luigi Boccia of Brooklyn Tweed

It is easy sometimes to forget all the decidedly unglamorous work that goes on behind a great company. This is especially true for small businesses whose product is all about beauty, light and creativity. And yet, the simple fact is you can be supremely talented and a true original but without a solid foundation in smooth operating systems and stellar organization, you will not succeed. However, if you are lucky enough to have a creative genius AND a rockstar business developer leading the enterprise, you might look a lot like Brooklyn Tweed!

No doubt you are familiar with Jared Flood, but today I want to celebrate the man who has been behind the scenes at Brooklyn Tweed since the very beginning:  LUIGI BOCCIA.  It’s not often that I find a role model of how I want to be in this world– but I can tell you, Luigi inspires me deeply. He is a very dear friend who is one of the most generous, kind, vibrant and super smart people I know. I adore him and want you to get to know him better, too.

This episode went a little bit long and that’s because I could talk with Luigi for hours. In this conversation he shares some glimpses of his life growing up in Italy– how he trained to be a professional opera singer and then, walked away from that path. AND, if you listen all the way to the end– he shares a most wonderful story about how he and his beloved dog Dante transitioned from life in New York City to Portland, OR. Spoiler alert: it’s EPIC.
