Paper Made! with Kayte

As promised, today Kayte is sharing a glimpse into her beautiful new book Paper Made! and providing the steps to one of her most favorite projects the O Happy Day Banner that you can customize to so many different events and use such a range of papers and fabrics that you might make more of these than you ever imagined cause they be some fun!

Before we jump in I just have to point out that there are 101 terrific projects in this book and Kayte personally made each and every one of them.  Sheesh, you know, in her spare time. . .

One of the reasons I love mixed media is the chance to use every scrap of paper and material from around the house.  Yes, it may be due to the fact that I am a born and bred Yankee, but it might also be that finding new purposes for stuff you have right on hand pushes you immediately into the creative mindset.  As Kayte writes, "You could probably stock your entire paper craft workshop without stepping foot in a store."

To get us started, Kayte whipped up a SQUAM banner following the intstructions she gives in her book.  HERE is the pdf for you to enjoy using at home.

So grab up those magazine subscription cards that fall out everywhere, those grocery store fliers that the post man stuffs unceremoniously into your mailbox and whatever else would otherwise get tossed into the trash.  Choose a word and string it up!

Thank you, Kayte!

bisous, e

How fun is this!? Will we ever collectively get tired of bunting and banners? I don't think so.
