meet me at the dock
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for the comments and photos you have been leaving at "The Dock." It's so nice getting a peek into your world!
This week I wanted to share with you three things that have been inspiring me lately...
1. The "Let's Colour Project" is a program committed to bringing beauty to needed environments around the world. Can you imagine how fun it would be to do this?
2. The Snow Before Us, by Charles Atlas. There is something about this song that calms me and puts me in really good space.
3. Beet Pie. Serious drooling.
So tell us.....What are three things that are inspiring you these days?
*We've had lots of good things happening at Double Dog Dare! Come join us as we begin a brand new month of daring adventures!
*You must check out the new Squam Store offerings for February! You will find the prettiest pattern for finegrless mitts by Natalie Selles and gorgeous hand dyed yarn (inspired by the colors of Squam Lake) by Jill Draper. LOVE!

Happy Happy Friday!
Three things that are inspiring me right now are . . .
1. The absolutely gorgeous sunny day we had in Seattle today.
2. My 13 yr old boy who has mastered snowboarding and is infinitely cooler than I was at his age.
3. Nicola Taylor - fellow Squammie & crazy talented photographer!
xoxo

1. Just being in my studio space I've made for myself in my home is really doing the trick for inspiration right now.
2. Just starting an art journal e-course I came across over at Smile and Wave: http://smileandwave.typepad.com/blog/e-courses-coming-soon.html/
3. And my two year old learning to paint with her watercolors this week and begging to play with them everyday.
I'm totally inspired by the road trip from middle america to florida I just took. I want to be on the open road with no schedule and no where to be.
I'm inspired by artists that work with paper and re-use and re-create!
I'm inspired by people who sew...
I'm inspired by everyone here :)

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm this week was tough but I am going to try to look past..
I have to say all of you are inspiring me, everyone who comments on this contributes to this blog ..
some others...
1. trees..always
2. great conversation this weekend at a local coffee shop with a like minded soul..times flys in that space.
3. the NY Giants trip to the Super Bowl (ok that on is for the hub) ;-)
and I have been truly inspired by others stories of processing and being in grief. We tend to want to just get over things and push past, but really being in it is tough and needs to be honored...

Finding little bits of inspiration everywhere!
All these new flavors of tea, that double as medicinal treatments, currently I am sipping Tazo "Rest" for wellbeing, rose petal infusion (wonderful).
I'm reading Walden and finding inspiration to get outside and be in nature.
Making some oils for massage with lavendar I grew this summer. It's also great for healing the skin. I'm going to tackle soaps next.
Happy Sunday to you!
thank you all for sharing! i am inspired by reading about your inspirations! please free to keep adding to your list!
I just finished up Susannah Conway's "Photo Meditations" ecourse and I have been so inspired by all the photographers she has introduced me to throughout the course. I know I got overwhelmed by all the flickr groups and online photo blogs with their massive pool of images ... made me question whether there really needed to be another shot of a dandelion or coffee cup or girl holding a toy ... I know, so defeatist (and a bit of the perfectionism gremlin manifesting in an ugly way!) But I reconnected with my love of taking photographs if only FOR ME. I realize I take pictures as a way to slow down and really pay attention to the details of my life and in turn my pictures celebrate the abundance of my world - our world. So I am happily looking at other photographers work for inspiration as to how they SEE their worlds (versus only thinking about the technical aspects) and using that inspiration to re-examine my world. My computer drive is filling up with tons of photos again!
I also had a blast this weekend as a snowstorm kept us all home on Saturday. I made my mask for Pixie's Winter SouLodge and I reconnected with mama Bear.
(hopefully this link will work!)
oops ... tried to embed a flickr image ... didn't show up ... so will add to the Squam photo pool.
Dear Lis, I totally hear you about the overload with the mass photos out there... The day I hung up my photography as a business, and returned to taking photos just because its fun and its what i wanted to do, was the day all that stuff about perfection, the best shot, the right lighting etc etc etc, faded away....So freeing. And so much more enjoyable. I love your photos, and love your blog...

Thanks Jen ... it helps to read you words, know of your experience. It is crazy how these other voices get into our heads. I spent years in grad school for Art History and then could not go into a museum without anxiety! Took me a long time to return to that state of innocence and joy which initially prompted me to study art in the first place. I think there probably is or needs to be a 12 step program for that! If nothing else, I am trying to preserve that innocence within my daughter who loves to take pictures, make movies, paint and draw. She loved seeing Michelangelo's David (she calls him the Hero) ... she is responsible for my creative recovery! xo Lis
Inspiration can often turn on me...unless it comes from me being exactly where I am in the moment.
The past 24 hrs I have been inspired by
1. my little boy figuring out multiplication in the car ride home
2. a photograph from a session this morning -a little 18 month old whose eyes fill the frame
3. taking a bush whacking adventuring through the woods coming to a meandering stream, with my little man today... without my camera- really being present...and the joy we were able to share-then him leaning into me as we walked home rosy cheeked and out of breath from racing from mailbox to mailbox.
