meet me at the dock
Ain't it just grand when the week comes to an end? Well, we think so too!
Let's start by taking a minute to bring to mind one thing that went really well this week... and then meet me at the dock!
Join us here every Friday afternoon as we kick back and take a moment to reflect on the past five days. Pour yourself a glass of wine, a cold beer, a frothy milkshake, maybe a beet smoothie?-- whatever makes it special for you. Sit back and enjoy. You deserve it!
Here at the dock, we are going to do our best to provide a little fun for you, a little distraction, and a little entertainment. To start off this gig, we could not think of anyone better than our favorite Squam rock star, Jonatha Brooke!
Jonatha and her music are so much a part of Squam, and it's been that way from the very start. She has attended every single squam session since the beginning in 2008 -- ditching the lights and glam of New York City for the starry nights and quiet mornings of squam. She is the whole package: talent, brains, hotness, and hell if she doesn't knit.
Have a little listen and see why we love her so...
See what we mean?
We hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Oh! And don't forget our double dog dare, jump in...we're going strong! ALSO **Registration** opens this Monday, January 9!

thanks for joining me for a glass of wine this friday evening!

I JUST SENT YOU A FREAKING EMAIL and then I come here and get to be blown away by this??? And I have a ticket to your show at Lincoln Center. WINNING! My god I'm going to play the lottery right this minute. You, my dear, have the voice of an angel and hearing it in 2 weeks in my favorite city in the world, might just be the highlight of 2012.
oh, yea. and I love you too, Jenny Jen.
Perfection. Thank you. Just so wonderful. My joy is visceral when I hear Jonatha sing...or speak...or tell a story....
oh thanks for a minute on the dock you guys... and Jen your secret is safe with me... I'll never let Jonatha know that you're really the one... that uhm, well sits on the dock so very much the best-est. and Miss Brooke, you are a most magnificent queen of so many hearts, whether on a dock, or in heels, or in yoga pants (barely) or on stage, or sitting at dinner... your words, your heart and your voice.... NOW if you'd only ever play at the still point, live, well, you'd be darn near perfect, I do believe... x
what a great way to start the weekend.. loved this and you two..
see you soon ..

So Much Mine breaks my heart EVERY. DAMN. TIME! So sad tickets to Lincoln Center sold out before I could get them, but so glad I'll get my (non-creepy!) fangirl fix at Squam this spring!
What a treat! This blog rocks my socks off! Jonatha is an amazing singer feels corny but I feel like I am listening to an angel when she sings. I am even more excited now to see her at Lincoln center on January 18th!
i am ddding myself to listen to beautiful music, like jonatha's songs, that i always turn off before they really get deep because i'm afraid they will make me cry, which they always do. but i know i am missing out on beautiful words and feelings and i need to push through this fear of breaking down/being sad/crying. uhhhhhh...that was hard.
*sigh* I wish I was with Jonatha and Jen RIGHT NOW! OMG. This fills me with such a huge smile and so much gratitude. xoxo
I am seriously blown away. What you guys are creating here is amazing. I love coming here. So much inspiration and love
So this week what went well: I was totally overwhelmed in the beginning of the week. Stressing out about projects about work. But my double dog dare kicked me into the right place....showing up in front of my boss face to face. I got so much accomplished and feel so good about it.
You guys rock. Seriously....totally rock. Xoxo
Oh Jonatha, there simply is no other.
That was an amazing way to end this phenomenal week of posts! You ladies are blowing my minds with this new blog! What's happening here is the incredible alchemy Michelle spoke about on her blog. Squam magic is now available to tap into directly from home. You've created a way to fill us up until we can all come together face to face... whatever session that might be.
And Jonatha and Jen- I've been longing for your silly, wily ways... so this was a double treat!
Thank you ,thank you ,everyone! (and jonatha thanks you too!)
We love this growing community :) and, we look forward to sharing many more dock times with you all!.
I think between the double dares, juicy videos, the conversations sparked by you, and some songs from ms brooke
getting through the week will be much easier !

I read that the brilliant Stephen Hawkings declared heaven does not exist.
It's perfectly obvious to me that Mr. Hawkings has never been to Squam!
We could invite him to meet us at the dock. He would come, see the error in his thinking and apologize profusely. I've been to that dock and if that's not heaven I don't know what is! The dock, the gals, the singing and most of all the laughing. I've heard rumors about some amazing classes too(wink, wink). And don't foget those top notch teachers( you betcha they're the best). Don't even get me started on the twinkle lights...bliss bulbs, that's what they are, bliss bulbs with magic powers.
So glad I have my tickets and my date Mindy for Jonatha's sold out show at Lincoln Center Jan. 18th. How great is that? Lincoln Center, ya baby!!
Oh Jonatha I am so happy that we connected at Squam and am so very grateful for you! Squam would not be the same without you and neither would my life. Thank you for all of your beautiful music, your wonderful laughter and your cute little tushie! Cant wait to give you a big squeeze soon! And see you at the dock in September.
i can still remember the moment i met you both, the first night of my first Squam, and the pair of you make my cheeks hurt just thinking about you. now i can watch this video whenever i need a little jen-and-jonatha. and to all y'all who've ever wondered what it'd be like to share a cabin with these ladies, the last minute of the video gives you a taste ;nD
My background on my iPhone is our dock with a nice blue sky and has been since I left Squam - so this is particularly an apt bit of nostalgia. I love it and I can't wait for the next one. Whenever I need a calming moment, I just look at my phone and breathe - to temper the onslaught of the rest of things that never seem to end. Squam is a calming influence.
Happy New Year, Squammies
GRACE- i remember that day (in the photo above) of us together so well.
and I'm SO glad this is the year i get to see YOU again.
MELISSA- to see you just a few months ago by the ocean and know we will be docking it in the fall makes me so happy!
CAL- We could have done an entire video on YOU and your dresses that we all just die for.
FINCH- I have a photo on my phone too! And it's one of a perfectly sunny day with a view of the lake. I know what you mean, when I think back to the days at Squam, I get a moment of a beautiful distraction to take me away.
P.S. Jonatha you have the voice of an angel. I own every one of your CD's.
I will travel across the country to hear you sing. AND, what I love to hear just as much as you making music is your laughter. Your giggles in this video - pure delight. Your giggles on the dock even better x0x0x0x0x
PPS - Jen I own every one of your CD's too, honest I do. Listen to them every day :)
PPPS - that moment on the dock in that photo.....forever in my heart
I've watched this video twice with Ivy, who ran in when the singing began and hopped up onto my lap. "Do it again, mama". I don't always trust myself on a deep level, it's a work in progress-but BOTH of my children have had a very strong connection to your music, Jonatha. From Miles and the train song in 2008, to Ivy on my lap, they remind me of the contrast between funny, snarky you, and deeeeeeep feeling you-you who has the ability to find me sitting around fires or in playhouses at Squam with tears soaking my handknit scarf. You reflect so many of us back. I love you, and my little people, too. We want to be wherever you are, my friend.
I said that weird. You and your songwriting close the gap between the part of me that is postponing feeling and the part of me which everyone sees, bringing me into a deeper state of trust of what is within me-what speaks to my soul. I've always wanted to tell you that. xoxo
I was at Amherst when it was Jonatha & Jennifer, and I'll never forget that amazing voice in the back of Fayerweather Hall. Hope I can join you at Squam and hear it once again.
oh jonatha and jen, when i grow up, i wanna be just like you.
jonatha, are those shoes 'fluvogs'? ADORE them. i'm a total shoe fanatic. do they come in red? xoxx and me too..... it took me 40 years too to find a space that felt 'right' with kindred spirits. going to squam was like coming home.
love this space elizabeth has created and you lovely ladies who pump some magic into it. love your energy and your giggles and this entire community you're creating and nurturing.
xoxox
Oh, to be at Squam, enjoying Jonatha's beautiful voice, making gorgeous friends and discovering myself again. I've longed to go since I heard of it three years go. Maybe some day...
For all who attend, may it be magic!
JB is heaven sent.
