Fall 2012
Color & Composition
Taught by: Kayte TerryFriday Sep 14 - all day
Kit Fee: $5
Do you ever look at the pages of a magazine or a favorite blog and think, “how did they think to put those colors and prints together?” followed by “why can’t I do that?” Do you want to feel more comfortable mixing colors and patterns in your work?
In this class we will learn the basics of color theory and how to mix and match color, texture and print through long and short mixed media exercises. Using scraps of paper, fabric, ribbons and other ephemera, we will discuss how certain juxtapositions of materials work together and, through experimentation and play, get cozy with the mix of lots of materials.
Whether you are decorating your home, hitting a creative wall in your art or trying to get better at styling your Etsy photographs, knowing how to play with color, print and texture will help you be more creative in everything you do!
You will leave the class with several color and print composition studies to pin to your mood boards, make into an inspiration book or even hang up on your walls!
