Comments (7)choosing graciousness

Anything can be used to wake up and breathe into the present moment: a new year, a new morning, a birthday, a death – a car accident, an almost accident—but the very best of all is love.

If you have never had the good fortune to be in a class or a conversation with Maya, I hope one or the other is in your future as she is, most assuredly-- as she readily admits below-- so good at the loving thing.

what in the world was going on
Everything in its perfect time. Everything is unfolding. And, I am enjoying where I am now, in relationship to where I am going. Content where I am and eager for more.

it was beautiful
Last week, Christine and I spent three days in a most magical class with an absolute love of a teacher making paper-mache creatures, replete with tiny knitted hats and crocheted trousers. There were donekeys with panniers, a house with a clever chimney, a robot with a vacumn and even an exquisitely wrought baby carriage.

It was as if I was willing myself to focus by the sheer gravity of the pull of the ink. But I finished them...one by one.
in search of new experience
For both Christine and me, we're here in search of new experience. Neither of us have been to England before--so just getting to be in the countryside with our cameras in hand, walk about the gardens, down to the village, check out the open studios (West Dean has a range of art classes going on all the time)-- is a big draw.

making bread
It’s the middle of winter and the weekend approaches, no wonder our thoughts turn to a warm oven and comfort foods. And yet, many of us want to make good choices about what we put in our bodies—so if you have a hankering to pull some hot bread out from the oven...

Teacher Feature :: Gudrun Johnston
If Coco Chanel came back as a Scottish-born knitwear designer who made her home in the US, she would surely inhabit the body of Gudrun Johnston.
